This handmade drawing portrays the Twin Cam 96 (Model A) — Harley-Davidson’s next evolution of the Big Twin, produced from 2007 to 2011. Introduced as a successor to the 88, the 96 cu in (1584 cc) engine delivered stronger torque, smoother operation, and improved reliability while preserving the unmistakable sound and feel of a true Harley V-Twin.

The Model A variant featured rubber-mounted engine cases, designed to isolate vibration for the Dyna and Touring platforms. It retained the Twin Cam’s hallmark dual camshafts but added refinements such as electronic fuel injection (EFI), a 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission, and improved cooling and oiling systems.

This configuration represents Harley-Davidson’s balance between tradition and modern function — a powerful, fuel-injected Big Twin that still roared with the unmistakable heartbeat of Milwaukee steel. For many riders, the Twin Cam 96 marked the perfect middle ground between the raw analog spirit of the 88 and the smooth authority of the later 103 and 110 engines.
