1966–1969 Generator Shovelhead (ver.2) — Harley-Davidson Engine Print
This handmade drawing depicts the Generator Shovelhead, the first generation of Harley-Davidson’s Shovelhead Big Twin engines, produced from 1966 to 1969. In this artistic interpretation, the engine is shown with a Linkert DC carburetor, adding a dynamic, three-dimensional quality to the illustration — as if the machine itself were coming to life on the paper.
The Generator Shovelhead marked a turning point in Harley-Davidson engineering. Retaining the front-mounted generator of the Panhead era, it introduced new aluminum cylinder heads, improved combustion chambers, and better cooling efficiency. Displacing 74 cu in (≈1200 cc), it powered classic models like the FL and FLH Electra Glide, bridging vintage design with emerging modern performance.
Though the featured carburetor differs from factory specifications, it enhances the visual depth and spirit of the piece — celebrating the raw energy, imperfection, and individuality that define true motorcycle art.
Each print is part of a collector’s series celebrating Harley-Davidson engines across more than a century of history. Perfect for enthusiasts, workshops, or anyone who values vintage engineering and design.
