1966–1969 Generator Shovelhead — Harley-Davidson Engine Print (Classic Edition)
This handmade drawing depicts the Generator Shovelhead, the first generation of Harley-Davidson’s Shovelhead Big Twin engines, produced from 1966 to 1969. As a direct successor to the Panhead, it retained the familiar front-mounted generator while introducing new aluminum heads and reshaped combustion chambers for improved cooling and performance.
This artwork captures the engine in its factory-correct configuration, showcasing the clean symmetry of its design and the unique balance between old and new engineering. Produced in 74 cu in (≈1200 cc) displacement, the Generator Shovelhead powered the FL and FLH Electra Glide models — bridging Harley-Davidson’s classic Panhead heritage with the modern era that would soon arrive with the Cone Shovelhead in 1970.
Elegant, balanced, and mechanically honest — this version celebrates the original look and spirit of the first Shovelhead Big Twin.
Each print is part of a collector’s series celebrating Harley-Davidson engines across more than a century of history. Perfect for enthusiasts, workshops, or anyone who values vintage engineering and design.
