1948–1965 Panhead — Harley-Davidson Engine Print
This handmade drawing depicts Harley-Davidson’s Panhead engine, produced from 1948 to 1965 — the direct successor to the legendary Knucklehead and one of the most recognizable Big Twin engines ever made.
The Panhead introduced major innovations for Harley-Davidson: aluminum cylinder heads with cast-iron barrels, hydraulic valve lifters, and an improved oil circulation system — all contributing to better performance, cooling, and longevity. Available in 61 cu in (≈1000 cc) and 74 cu in (≈1207 cc) versions, it powered iconic models like the Hydra-Glide, Duo-Glide, and early Electra-Glide.
Beloved for its reliability and timeless style, the Panhead defined the look and sound of Harley-Davidson through the 1950s and early 1960s. Its name comes from the smooth, pan-shaped rocker covers that crown the cylinders — a design that remains an icon of American motorcycling.
Each print is part of a collector’s series celebrating Harley-Davidson engines across more than a century of history. Perfect for enthusiasts, workshops, or anyone who values vintage engineering and design.
