1930–1936 Flathead V-Series — Harley-Davidson Engine Print
This handmade drawing depicts Harley-Davidson’s Flathead V-Series, produced from 1930 to 1936 — the first generation of Big Twin side-valve engines. Powered by the 74 cu in (≈1213 cc) flathead, with a rare 77 cu in (≈1266 cc) high-compression version for export markets, the V-Series combined smooth torque, mechanical simplicity, and rugged durability.
Born during the Great Depression, these engines earned a reputation for unwavering reliability on the rough, unpaved roads of early America. The V-Series powered both civilian and police motorcycles, setting the standard for long-distance strength and serviceability that became a Harley-Davidson hallmark.
As the direct predecessor to the later U-Series, the V-Series laid the foundation for nearly two decades of Big Twin Flathead evolution — a design loved for its quiet power and timeless mechanical character.
Each print is part of a collector’s series celebrating Harley-Davidson engines across more than a century of history. Perfect for enthusiasts, workshops, or anyone who values vintage engineering and design.
